Drinking for Charity
As a youngster,, my family had to take care of my Great-Grandmother Thelma, who had Alzheimer’s { http://www.alz.org/}. After college, my family had to take care of my Grandmother Ocenia. So I know the tough task of taking care of once-vibrate elderly relatives. But my Great Grandmother and Grandmother had family members. They had fewer and fewer friends. Growing older becomes challenging and hard. Family and friends are lost, mobility is diminished, and simply providing yourself with the basic needs of life becomes more and more difficult.
Members of The Boom Foundation { http://theboomfoundation.org/} realize the difficulties that accompany old age. They believe, however, that the elders of our community deserve to live their lives with dignity. The Boom Foundation works to provide the means to ensure that the elderly in our society are not left behind.
The Boom Foundation partners with Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly {http://www.littlebrotherschicago.org/} and H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly) {http://www.homeseniors.org/index.html} , who provide free transportation from senior buildings to local grocery stores, and do minor indoor repairs in the homes of low-income seniors. They do up to 1,209 repairs in 581 households. Forty-three percent of those repairs were emergencies. Seniors are asked to reimburse H.O.M.E. for parts but the labor is free.
About 90% of all of the Proceeds will go to The Boom Foundation.

The CubCrawl
We start at two (2) Bars, Johnny O’Hagan’s { http://www.johnnyohagansirishpub.com/ }and Redmond’s {http://www.bar1events.com/redmonds/}. We start drinking two (2) hours before the Cubs Away game. After the 1st Inning , we leave and go to one of three (3) Bar Options. Some of the bars include Stretch {http://www.thestretchchicago.com/HOME.html}, Rebel {http://www.rebelchicago.com/}, Moe’s Cantina {http://moescantina.com/}, Captain Morgan Club {http://www.captainmorganclub.com/}, and Murphy’s Bleachers {http://www.murphysbleachers.com/}.
Between each inning, you travel to your next Bar Option (3). Invite your friends and have them meet you. It’s free.
Major League Baseball has about 2:15 minutes between Innings. All Wrigleyville Bars are either right next door or across the street.
Regardless of a short or long Inning, you move on at the end of the Inning. Check out the CubCrawl Rules! { http://cubcrawl.com/CubCrawl_Rules.html} Less waiting, more drinking, and quickly, is the goal. No Manhattans, Please!
We ask all of the Bars to offer a Special for the CubCrawl. The City of Chicago started cracking down on “Happy Hours.” Wrigleyville bars have managed to legally offer savings for the CubCrawl’s sake. Thanks for doing that!
The CubCrawl is like going to a baseball game, except it’s FREE!
We are Drinking for Charity! Whatever you do, you’re still Drinking for Charity...with a Donation, of course.
